A product is like a living being. No two products behave the exact same way. Various factors impact the Product and its performance based on the market, environment, customers, innovation, technology, etc. A PM is a director or a ‘sutradhar’ (meaning the thread holder in Sanskrit), constantly pursuing equilibrium in a volatile environment. Imagine entering the scene from a different organization and managing a product. It can be anything from overwhelming to even a nightmare. Therefore it becomes very critical for PMs to carefully handle the Product in the first 90 days of transition into the role. In this session, we will explore smoothly transitioning into a PM’s role and efficiently managing the products we are responsible for.
Outcomes:
Participants will be able to identify and recognize the challenges and resources available to them as a PM. Based on this, we will then present an approach to defining success criteria, prioritizing the challenges and arriving at a plan for the next 90 days.
This session will not just limit to newly transitioned PMs. However, even existing PMs will find the session helpful with a practically actionable approach.
